Garnier Araguas is a graphic, typographic and editorial design studio based in the Paris region, founded in 2019 by Léna Araguas & Alaric Garnier. Active in the broader field of culture (visual arts, performing arts, music, fashion, food & beverage…), the studio designs books, visual identities, websites, exhibitions, signs, lettering and typefaces for public, private and associative clients. Whether in a physical space, on screen or on paper, the studio's practice is essentially based on a rigorous use of typography and layout, conscious of the act of transmission and mediation it must accomplish, as well as its expressive power.
Léna Araguas and Alaric Garnier both hold Bachelor's and Master's degrees in graphic design from the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon. Their projects are marked by their interest in literature, political and social history, the history of typography and printing processes, plastic and vernacular arts. In 2015, in parallel of their commissioned practice, they founded the publishing house Rotolux Press to support contemporary creation and develop their editorial practice on self-initiated projects: collections of poetry, fiction, essays, artists' books, fanzines, often as a pretext to challenge the status of texts and images, always with the aim of breaking down the boundaries between these genres.
From 2021 to 2023, Léna Araguas taught editorial design in the master's program in publishing at ESAM Caen. From 2016 to 2024, Alaric Garnier taught graphic and typographic design in the master's program in design at Ensba Lyon.
